Ali Edwards (well known scrapbooker) always sends around posts of her "December Daily" mini albums, where each day of the month is recorded - family activities, holiday preparations, etc.
I've always thought this was a good idea, but being the busy month it always is, I have never had the time...
This year I'm thinking I can at least blog it (?) So, like a well intended New Year's Resolution, (good idea until it comes to the actual practice,) I am diving in...
December first:
I had a shorter shift today, and should have accomplished a lot - but instead, I took the spare hours to rest my worn out body. Folks laughed at me when I posted this on Facebook, after all, it's only December 1st, but I have been at this for weeks already (The Christmas merchandise went up at the store the same time as the Halloween!) It is to that point where I am running my full shift, and never getting caught up. (This is hard on me - I am so anal about leaving a clean department. Having to just turn my back and walk away...)
I did have some braistorming about my Christmas Eve party, and found most of what I needed on Pinterest - now to enlist the girls in helping to execute the plan...
My girls are surprising me with their Christmas spirit this year. They have always complained about having so many decorations, but this year they are missing them! Jennifer has been such a trooper.
Dad put up the tree amidst the packing, but it stood bare for almost a week - until Jenny volunteered to finish it. She kept asking me what to put on it (I was busy,) so I told her to do it exactly how SHE would like it. It's very simple, but I like it. Change is good. :-)
She also bought lights for the outside of the house (dad lost them) and hung them all by herself!
Melissa has already baked a batch of sugar cookies for dad.
As a parent, it's good to know that all efforts are not lost...
