Today's been kind of an odd day. For a crew who is soon to be disolved, everyone seemed to be farily cheerful today. It seems that everyone has been on edge for so long, knowing that something was off, but afraid to say anything. Now that it's all out in the open, it's kind of a relief in a strange sort of way. I kept thinking of that scene in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" when the magazine staff is having thier meeting to discuss ideas, and one of the ladies chimes up and tells about the horrific disfiguring cosmetic surgery story, and how it is still "strangely....upbeat."
Our supervisor will be attending the "Prom" for the release of the new vampire book "Eclipse," soon, so she borrowed some dresses from a co-worker to wear to it. She took them home to try them on yesterday. One of the girls asked her which one she liked, and she said that only one of them fit well enough, but it made her uncomfortable because it had a slit that went clear up her thigh - one of the ladies piped up and said "just wear a garter - wear a garter that says "bite me!"
We've all read these vampire books (thanks to the prom-goer) and let me tell you - we all got a pretty good chuckle out of that!
4 of the ladies are leaving for Disneyland this week one just returned from there on Monday, - one is going to Washington to see a new grandaughter who was just born today! (as we all listened on her cell phone) and one is headed for the "prom" in Ariz. I think I'm going to be working all alone on Friday!
It felt like the last few days of school - remember those? When everyone is sad to leave thier friends for the summer, and yet excited for the coming vacations they have planned. The only really sad comment someone made was "usually when you leave a job - at least it is still there, and you can go and visit." There will be no place for us to come back to once we are all gone.
My hubby came home and told me that he has arranged a new job for me already!
One of the departments at his work has an opening, and is willing to take me right in. Hmmm....not exactly what I was thinking, but it will work - it's only 20 hrs. a week, but it pays a little more per hour, so I should come out about the same - and I can car-pool with either hubby or my daughter (she works there too) so it will save us money on gas. So, as usual, it sounds like he already has my life planned!
I was praying pretty hard last night, but I didn't expect such an immediate answer!

Stupid Criminals
As I drove past the Credit Union on my way home yesterday, I was reminded of an incident that took place there recently, and I just had to shake my head....
About a month ago, and 18 year old kid tried to rob it - in broad daylight, right after school - one of the busiest times of the day on that street. He wore no disguise (they said on the news that the pictures that the security cameras got of him were the clearest photos on record)....and he was from here!
Why oh why, please tell me, would you rob a bank in the town you were from? Especially in a town this small where everybody knows everybody! As I remember, he was in a stolen truck, but on his way out several people saw him who knew who he was...and where he lived, his uncle jack with the 3 legged dog, (ok - I embellished on that last part, but I'm just trying to make a point) The kid didn't make it to the next town.
Then, a few months before that, the truck stop where my son works was robbed - by a couple of high school kids - from here - at 4 in the afternoon - when the place was swarming with truckers - with a BB gun!!!
There were truckers in line behind him waiting to pay when he pulled out his "weapon" and demanded money. The trucker in line behind him said "not today sonny" and threw his hot coffee in his face, while two other truckers wrestled him to the ground and held him there until the police came. His girlfreind who was waiting in the car saw what happened, and peeled out and tried to get away, but two police cars blocked her off before she even got out of the parking lot!
Kids - stay in school - PLEASE!!!!

Happy Easter!
We had a really pleasant Easter weekend. The weather was actually nice for a change!
My mother in law hosted an egg hunt. She has a huge yard, so it's a fun place to go for family activities. She is rapidly losing her eyesight, but she still managed to make a large paper-maiche egg for each and every child, filled with goodies!
We had a picnic lunch on the lawn, and relaxed a bit (I caught my son & 2 daughters playing a game of basketball - I don't think this has ever happened before!), while the little girlies drove the mini-Hummer around the yard.
I got a fun group shot of my kids and grandkids all in a pile (one son is missing - he worked graveyard and was sleeping it off)
Then we drove up in the hills to roll eggs.
After Eastering, hubby and I went looking for a new dishwasher. Our old one is so bad, that when you open it up, you can't tell if it's been run or not without close inspection - not healthy I'm thinking!
So Sunday, while I was trying to prepare my Easter feast - hubby was on the floor under me, trying to install it.
But dinner was fabulous in spite of it all! (if I do say so myself!)

It's that time again....
Time to color eggs and go roll them down the hill (this came up too fast!...I'm not ready!) At least I don't have little ones in my house who have to be visited by the Easter Bunny.
My husband's family has the tradition of going "Eastering" on the Sat. before Easter - we have a picnic, and then all the kids roll thier eggs down the hill. Sounds like a quaint innocent tradition, right?
The adults usually wait at the bottom of the hill, and toss them back up so they can keep doing it until they are completely demolished. It usually turns into something else when the kids start pelting them at whoever is at the bottom. Trust our family to take a time honored tradition and turn it into a violent free-for-all!
Sunday we celebrate by attending church services. I still have to plan my Easter dinner. I wanted to go with the traditional ham, potato salad etc., but hubby wants to barbeque. If this means he's willing to cook - I'm leaning that way too!
My sister has been e-mailing me a lot of funnies lately - I got a kick out of this one:

Blah blah blah....
I was going to complain - it's been another one of those weekends - (hubby's been sick, and I spent the weekend in the kitchen as usual) but I decided I don't even want to go there - I just want to run off to fantasy land instead and talk about the outrageous!
So for starters - I finally got a chance to see the movie "Marie Antionette" a couple of weeks ago. Wow! ...I'm not sure I liked the story that much, it was a little weird - and I hate it when they start to lead you off in one direction, and then they totally shift gears and go another way (have you seen "The Queen"? ...that one does the same thing - very annoying!) ...but anyway - whether you like the story or not, to me it was worth seeing because THE CLOTHES! - and THE SHOES!!! Oh my goodness! they were gorgeous!
I saw that they won an Academy Award for that - it was well deserved! (Loved the scenery too!)
Thankfully, you don't have to see anyone lose thier heads in the film - that is just implied at the end as you see them ride off to thier "doom." I think the whole point of the story can be summed up in one line - when the King dies and the son (Marie Antoinette's hubby) says - "God help us - we're too young to rule" (or something like that - my memory sucks!)
Speaking about frivolous - I told my daughter tonight, that I was going to start planning her wedding (this is not an announcement - she's not even dating, but I want to - ok?)
It's going to be rich fall colors for the flowers, The cake will be part chocolate, part rice krispy treats, and her gown is going to be a mideval - Lady Guinevere type gown....with beaded satin flip-flops.
She'll have a wreath of flowers with dangly ribbons down her back. We'll have a mandolin player, and strolling madrigals - and for sure a bagpiper - maybe even a court jester.
Hmmm.... maybe I should just go to the Shakespear Festival and get this out of my system!
*I finished reading "Twilight" this week, and made the mistake of reading the teaser for the sequel - when she's at her birthday party, and gets a paper cut, and all the vampires catch a whiff of it and pile up on her - so not fair! Now I have to read book 2!
Anyway, hope everyone had a Happy April Fool's Day!
