I went to my first Dr. appointment down here - had some medication mix-ups that made the Utah medical connection a bit inconvenient. A couple of hours into the appointment (hours of paperwork,) the doctor sat down with me and said: I'm debating whether to put you right in the hospital.
I thought she was joking, and I said, I'd rather you didn't - my husband is out of town and won't be back until later tonight...
She looked at me blankly and then phoned the cardiologist she works with, and he agreed with her - so I was off to an unknown hospital. She told me I could either drive myself, or she could call me an ambulance. By then, I was starting to freak out a little...
Anyway, long story short (?) I spent 3 more hours in the ER between paperwork, blood draws and ex-rays. Then they shuffled me back & forth in an area called Observation (a big room with lots of beds divided only by curtains.
Wayland made it home about 7:30
They finally shifted me to a semi-private room upstairs, where I spent the next 5 days.
I came home with a home-health nurse, and not much else resolved, but at least that ordeal is over.
Hubby was coming down with something before he left town on Wednesday, and by the time he got home he had the full blown flu. I feel bad for him, because he seems much sicker to me than I was, and has had to work and run down to visit me all week.
I confined him to the recliner yesterday and plied him with day-quil and soup - I hope he starts progressing uphill soon, (although they're making him work his days off this weekend. Brats.)
I'm glad I got a picture of the flowers he sent me, because just the next day, they started to droop...
Pretty much the only good thing that has come out of this episode is that now I have a doctor down here who can monitor things without waiting until I have a chance to run back to Utah for a check up.
It's been cold and gloomy the past two days - I don't know why the sky holds on to moisture so tightly here.
I wish it would just rain and get it over with!
