I'ts May

Crazy crazy May.

This past weekend we drove to Seattle to attend Bradley's graduation from Cornish College of the Arts.
It was a Looong drive for a short visit, but we crammed as much into it as possible.

Brad's BFA show was a successful event - lots of people, and interesting things to see.
We were also able to squeeze in visits to Deception Pass, the Volunteer Conservatory, and Pioneer Square, along with the usual sights at the famed waterfront there.

So tired this week, but no day off until Monday.  Hanging on until then...

At the UPS memorial near Pioneer square
A little antique shop we stopped at
On the waterfront - finally captured the elusive Mt. Ranier on film...
 Seattle skyline from the pier
Brad's BFA show exhibits - these are all ink prints - he carved the designs onto wood boards and printed them.  No small task - they are Large!
Lords of Space Time is becoming his iconic work...
This one blew me away - it is HUGE!
Not a great shot, but the last of his prints - they are all based on scientific theory, with a bit of a twist...
This was another exhibit at the show - fun design work!
 ...Also liked this one's work...
The next morning, we went to the farmer's market before hitting the road again
 Funky fishes at La Conner
La Conner is a cute little touristy town 2 hours north of Seattle.  A fun little place to shop and walk around.  This is a cute little antique store, where I scored some vintage post cards - cheap!
Another fun little shop - loved these paintings based on playing cards...
Hiking down to the beach at Deception Pass
 Looking up at the bridge...
Jenny having fun on the beach!   :-)
 Father & son
 Hiking up to the bridge...
Views from the trail (above and below)

 Under the bridge
Walking across the narrow walk way between a hundred-ish foot drop and oncoming traffic.
 No kidding!
Sunday morning before Brad's graduation, we went up to the Volunteer Conservatory.  The oriental art museum is also here - this is one of the statues there.  (Caught the Space Needle peeking through the hole!)
Ma & Pa inside the doughnut...
 The Conservatory
Lots of beautiful flowers & plants inside - purple orchids.  (My camera battery died just as we got here, the rest of the pics are on my phone.  Working on getting them off...)

After graduation party - a lady Libby works with made the cake - she re-crated Brad's artwork in the frosting - incredible!  (And delicious!)
