I think they must be - I've been told the area that I live in used to be some kind of nature refuge. That's why they let the quail and bunnies run through. You can get a ticket for hitting them, but sometimes it's tricky not to! I love the cranes - have only seen them in the am. Sometimes there are a kind of guinea fowl looking birds there too... The park just down the street from us has canadian geese roaming freely all the time. (And there are lots of turtles in the pond!)
