Been to Hell and back this week.
July 1, Jenny and I were doing lunch downstairs, when I started feeling REALLY funky. I told her I didn’t feel good, and was going to go lay down for a bit before everyone arrived to celebrate my birthday.
I stood up, and leaned forward to pick up my lunch plate, and tumbled right over the table onto the floor. I told her - that was weird.
I cleaned the soda pop off me, that I took down with me, and did go lay down for a bit.
Later, my son arrived and we were chatting on the couch, when I started to feel that way again - so I scooted forward a bit to try to get the circulation going better - the next thing I knew, I was on my knees on the floor, with my chin on the table. I was disoriented and didn’t know where I was, and thought I had dreamed talking to him.
He shook me, and called for help - then we headed up to the emergency room.
The hospital staff got me right into a bed as quickly as possible, and hooked me up to the monitors. They called in a cardiologist, and discussed my case and how to proceed - all the time the nurses keeping close watch on my heart rhythms.
Finally, I was moved up to ICU. The staff told my family to wait in the waiting room while they got me settled, and that I was the only patient in ICU at the time.
So, my family took their seats - they next thing they heard was Code Blue to ICU! ...And all the staff from ER running up the stairs to attend to me.
They told me they used the paddles on my and did some pounding on my chest - the only thing I remember is waking up with a bunch of people hovering in my face saying “she’s back" and “she’s breathing on her own."
They got me stable, and I made it through the night without any more incident. My son, Bradley drove through the night so that he could be here with me.
The next morning, Dr. Craigun, the Cardiologist took me in for an angiogram. He found a 90% blockage in one of my main arteries, he inserted a stent. Then, thinking my problem had been solved, they took me back to ICU to recover and be watched through the night.
All went well, so they sent me home, But as it turns out, that was just a red herring…
To Be continued.
