I was going to do a Lorali Gilmore, and crawl into bed with her and tell her all the gory details about the day she was born, but I didn't because: A) I'm afraid of her when she's woken unexpectedly, and B) I really don't remember that well...
What I do remember is that there was an ongoing battle between Wayland's mom and I about whether she would be a boy or a girl. (This was pre-ultrasound days.) I wanted a girl so badly, and I just knew in my heart that's what she was - I even had dreams to that effect, but my mother-in-law would always say: Taylor's always have two boys first, that's just how it is.
So we waited and fretted, and I put off buying anything pink or frilly, just in case.
She is the only one of my children who arrived on their due dates. (Jeff was 10 days late, and Brad was a week early - Jenny was scheduled, so she doesn't count.)
Melissa was within 24 hours.
After she was born, as soon as I arrived in my room, Mom & Sue poked their heads in, and as soon as I said: It's a girl! Mom ran to the store, bought some pink fabric, and had a pink quilt made for me to bring her home in the next day.
I had to work yesterday, so I missed her party - dad made dinner for her, her requested fried chicken, (just like my mama used to make,) potatoes & gravy, spinach salad, and strawberry short cake.
Hubby did such a good job with the meal - everything was perfect.
Daughter is 33 now, a gorgeous, intelligent, and very talented woman, with a big heart. What more could a momma ask?
